Learning Goal: Together, our class will set our community guidelines and our daily routines.
Morning Briefing
We will dedicate the first 20 minutes of class each day to taking a look at the news and talking about current events. To be able to do this we need to first join our news aggregator, FlipBoard. I will walk you through how to do this and I encourage you to explore the cite once you have made it there.
Make an account (you should be able to use your google account from auburn to do this)
Click on the Flipboard logo (top left corner). This will bring you to the home page where you can look through the news and begin to follow different subjects.
**Task** -Flip an article into our Freshman Social Studies magazine -Make a comment on your article.
Understanding How to Spot Bias and Reliable Sources
Next we will discuss how to make sure you're using reliable sources and recognizing possible biases that can happen in the news. To do this we will check out the "News Sources" page of my website.
What are the daily guidelines that you think we should establish in our class? What policies should we hold each other accountable for?
To do this I would like you to brainstorm some ideas on your own for the policies you would like to create. Then we will share some of our ideas in small groups. Eventually we will write our official policies as a whole group.
