What Can the Sneetches Teach Us About Discrimination?
Before learning about the Civil Rights Movement, it is important to understand what the root of the problems were that sparked the movement in the first place: racism and discrimination. We will discuss the meanings of each of these words as well as how we see them play out in our society.
Definitions
Racism:
poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race
the belief that some races of people are better than others
Discrimination: the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people

Now that we understand the concept of racism, lets look at a timeline of how it has affected people living in North America throughout time.
But has this concept ever gone away in our society despite the fact that the Civil Rights Movement added amendments to the constitution that ensures protection for everyone's rights no matter what race they are?
