College is a time of great personal growth and change, not only academically but often personally. There are a lot of adjustments and new perspectives that may potentially challenge your own opinions, thoughts, and beliefs. These are all part of the learning experience.
In class today, we also watched two TED Talks that were about the importance of finding yourself as well as perseverance through difficult times. In the space below, I would like you to comment on what you found interesting from both of these videos as well as what you hope to gain personally from going to college. Please tell me how you would like to challenge yourself to grow in college as well as the parts of yourself that you would like to stay true to. (Remember that this is a public blog so other people may be able to see what you wrote. If there is something that you would like to share with me privately you may either email me or write the comment down on a piece of paper to bring to class next time.) When you are done with your comments here, I would like you to comment on a post by someone else telling them what you found interesting and giving them possible suggestions about their goals for college.

Last week we discussed stress management. In the comments below, please have a conversation about how you handle your own stress and some strategies you would like to try. As you comment, please think about typically stressors in your life, how you handle them, and the elements of college that you can see potentially causing you the most stress.

College Transitions: Discussion Blog
This is where we will have the online component to this course. Throughout the 14 weeks, you will be posting your thoughts to materials discussed in class or on this page. The idea is that you will all have a constructive conversation in this space on the readings provided. Please remember to be polite to each other (this does not mean you cannot disagree but rather disagree politely). Remember, this is a method of learning from each other so keep an open mind and enjoy your conversations! Archives
